Dr. Arya Massarat joins the Palmer Lab

Arya Massarat joined the Palmer Lab in September 2026 as a Postdoctoral Scholar.

He received his PhD in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology from UC San Diego, where he worked in the lab of Dr. Melissa Gymrek. His doctoral research focused on developing statistical and computational methods for haplotype-based fine-mapping and investigating the impact of complex genetic variation on human traits. His broader research interests center on statistical genetics, population genomics, and open-source software development for large-scale biomedical data.

Outside of the lab, Arya enjoys rock climbing, swimming, cooking, and exploring San Diego alongside furry friends.

Welcome, Arya!
