Article by Clarissa Parker and Dr. Abraham Palmer on Fear Conditioning accepted for publication in Neurobiology of Learning and Memory

The article: “Mice selectively bred for High and Low fear behavior show differences in the number of pMAPK (p44/42 ERK) expressing neurons in lateral amygdala following Pavlovian fear conditioning” has been accepted for publication in Neurobiology of Learning and Memory. Clarissa and Abe were among the coauthors of the paper.

Dr. Abraham Palmer weighs in on the growing use of caffeine in food in the Washington Post

In an article by Brady Dennis published in the Daily Herald, Dr. Palmer commented on the increasing use of caffeine in food products. ” The food merely acts as a different delivery vehicle for the drug, he said, and it is a lot harder to scarf down half a dozen Wired Waffles than it is to drink several cups of Starbucks coffee.” You can read the full article here.

Dr. Abraham Palmer participates in a symposium about “Novel Mechanisms in Anxiety and Depression” at 15th annual IBANGS meeting in Leuven, Belgium

In addition to speaking in the symposium, Abraham also officially became president of IBANGS for a one year term. Next year’s meeting will be held in Chicago from May 9-12.

Amy Hart presents a poster at the Conte Center 2nd Annual Scientific Retreat

Amy presented her poster “SNPs associated with stronger positive subjective response to d-amphetamine are significantly enriched for SNPs that increase risk for schizophrenia and ADHD.” The scientific retreat was held at the University of Chicago and featured presentations from the University of Chicago, Northwestern, Harvard, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Haifa (Israel), Columbia and Stanford.
