Apurva Chitre was invited to speak at the American Physiology Summit, the flagship meeting of the American Physiological Society, which took place in Long Beach, California, from April 4-7, 2024.
The talk, titled “Genome-wide association study of adiposity in Heterogeneous Stock rats,” was part of the session It Takes All Strains: Rodent Genetic Diversity in Physiological Studies.
As the Palmer lab’s focus on bioinformatics has grown, Apurva has been appointed as the leader of the bioinformatics team, which is currently expanding from 3 to 4 full time members. She will continue to divide her time between publishing papers, continuing to develop the lab’s database and bioinformatics workflows, and working with collaborators and supervising the other members of the team. Congrats Apurva!
The article, “Integration of Evidence across Human and Model Organism Studies: A Meeting Report”, was accepted for publication in Genes, Brain, and Behavior. This article discusses a meeting attended by a diverse panel of scientists to examine better strategies for integrating genetic, epigenetic and epigenomics data in human and model organisms to obtain a greater mechanistic insight in substance use disorders. Dr, Abraham Palmer, Dr. Sandra Sanchez-Roige, and Apurva Chitre are co-authors along with several others. Congratulations!
Apurva Chitre, Bonnie Lin, and Oksana Polesskaya have been selected as 2019-20 STAR Award Recipients in recognition of and appreciation for their outstanding service and enduring contribution to the advancement of the psychiatry department’s teaching, research, clinical and public service missions. The article, “Sex-Dependent Associations Between Addiction-Related Behaviors and the Microbiome in Outbred Rats,” has been accepted for publication in EBioMedicine. Drs. The article, “Genome-wide association study in two cohorts from a multi-generational mouse advanced intercross line highlights the difficulty of replication due to study-specific heterogeneity,” has been accepted for publication in G3. Drs. Abraham Palmer and Riyan Cheng, and Xinzhu Zhou and Apurva Chitre are co-authors along with Celine St. Pierre, Natalia Gonzales, Jennifer Zou, and Greta Sokoloff.
Apurva and Abraham attended the Addiction Genetics and Epigenetics Data Jamboree, May 29-31 at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN.
This workshop, co-sponsored by NIDA and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, discussed challenge problems to integrate data across human and model organism genetics, genomics, and epigenetic studies of addiction.
Apurva Chitre gave a talk at the MEDINSPIRE, an international multidisciplinary medical conference hosted on 14th – 17th February 2019 in Mumbai, India.
The talk title was “Genome wide association study of body weight, body mass index, adiposity, and fasting glucose in 3,173 outbred rats”. Apurva won the Best oral presentation Award in the Physiology category. Congratulations!
The article, “Social and anxiety-like behaviors contribute to nicotine self-administration in adolescent outbred rats,” was accepted for publication in Scientific Reports. Apurva Chitre, Dr. Oksana Polesskaya, and Dr. Abraham Palmer are co-authors along with several others.
The Palmer lab recently attended the Society for Neuroscience meeting in San Diego on November 3-7th.
Apurva Chitre presented a poster titled, “Genetic analysis of multiple measures of locomotor activity in 2,325 outbred Heterogeneous Stock rats.”
