Dr. Palmer is a co-investigator on the NIH/NIDA grant received by Dr. Telese, entitled “Decoding the grammar of transcriptional enhancers regulating different stages of opioid use disorder.”
This project’s goal is to investigate transcriptional regulatory networks underlying different stages of the opioid use disorder, using capped small (cs)RNA-seq method of transcriptional initiation profiling in combination with other sensitive profiling techniques.
The article, “Content and performance of the MiniMUGA genotyping array, a new tool to improve rigor and reproducibility in mouse research,” has been accepted for publication in Genetics. Former Palmer lab postdoc, Yu-yu Ren, and current lab member, Dr. Abraham Palmer, are co-authors on the paper.
Dr. Palmer is a co-investigator on the NIH/NIDCD grant received by Dr. Friedman, entitled “The genetic basis for age-related hearing loss in outbred mice.” The goal of this project is to study genetics of the age-related hearing impairment using GWAS in outbred CFW mice.
Dr. Zhou was a graduate student in the Biomedical Sciences program at UCSD. She successfully defended her thesis titled “Genome-wide Association Discovery, Replication, and Validation in Mouse Models. Congratulations, Xinzhu!
The commentary, “ACNP efforts toward reducing climate change,” has been accepted for publication in Neuropsychopharmacology. Dr. Palmer is a co-author along with Dr. Chloe Jordan. The unedited manuscript can be found here.
Dr. Oksana Polesskaya has been promoted to Assistant Research Scientist. The appointment will begin on July 1st, 2020. The new title will allow Dr. Polesskaya to receive independent research funding from NIH and other agencies. Congratulations, Oksana!
Dr. Francesca Telese received a NIH/NIDA U01 grant to support her work in HS rats, entitled: “Single-cell resolution analysis of chromatin accessibility and gene expression changes in a model of drug addiction”. Dr. Palmer is a co-investigator on this project. The goal of this project is to use single cell RNASeq to identify changes that are associated with the extended access to oxycodone intravenous self-administration paradigm.
The article, “Genome wide association study of body weight, body mass index, adiposity, and fasting glucose in 3,173 outbred rats,” has been accepted for publication in Obesity. Former lab members Jianjun Gao, Alexander Gileta, and Celine St. Pierre are co-authors along with current lab members Drs. Abraham Palmer and Oksana Polesskaya, Apurva Chitre, and Riyan Cheng. Other co-authors include Katie Holl, Angel Garcia Martinez, Tony George, Wenyan Han, Aidan Horvath, Alesa Hughson, Keita Ishiwari, Christopher P. King, Alexander Lamparelli, Cassandra L. Versaggi, Connor Martin, Jordan A. Tripi, Tengfei Wang, Hannah
