She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Data Science at UC San Diego. She is enthusiastic about algorithm design, data modeling, and data-driven decision analysis; being a detail-oriented individual, she has a systematic approach toward the challenges offered.

2023 REHU Summer Internships Begin at Palmer Lab

Undergraduate students Faith Okamoto and Sakina Muckadam transitioned into the REHU program for the summer to continue their work in the Palmer Lab. They are joined by new Palmer Lab members Mika Okamoto and Brandon Krieg, who started in June.

Dr. Oksana Polesskaya will mentor the REHU students and prepare them for their group presentation later this summer.

Yizhi Wang joins the Palmer Lab

Yizhi began working as a lab assistant at the Palmer Lab in June 2023. He received his BS in Biochemistry from UC San Diego in December 2022—he has a keen interest in biochemistry and molecular/genetic biology, and would like to attend graduate school in those fields.

In his spare time, Yizhi enjoys playing musical instruments, watching movies, playing video games, and traveling.

Dr. Montana Lara joins the Palmer Lab

Montana joined the Palmer Lab in May of 2023. She received her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Vermont.

Her previous research examined the effects of genetic diversity on electrophysiological and neurobehavioral traits in epilepsy mouse models.

Dr. Robert Vogel joins the Palmer Lab

Robert joined the Palmer Lab in May of 2023.  He holds a PhD in Physiology, Biophysics, and Systems Biology from Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences and he completed postdoctoral work at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, IBM Research, and Scripps Research.
